Passengers who purchase train tickets online through the ORTP system can travel during the Thadingyut Festival using e-tickets without having to exchange them for paper tickets at the relevant railway stations, according to an announcement by the Online Railway Ticketing and Payment (ORTP) Department of Myanma Railways (MR).

According to the announcement, passengers can board trains by presenting the e-ticket stored on their mobile phones and their original National Registration Card (NRC). They will no longer need to queue at railway stations to exchange their e-tickets for paper tickets.

Passengers who wish to obtain paper tickets can continue to exchange their e-tickets at the relevant railway stations as before. Railway station staff and ticket inspectors will provide the necessary assistance.

The announcement also stated that when Buddhist nuns purchase train tickets, they must enter a zero at the beginning of their nun registration number (religious identification card number), in accordance with the system requirements. For example, if the registration number is 12345, it must be entered as 012345 when purchasing a ticket through the ORTP system.
