MR plans special Christmas holiday trains with modern air-conditioned DEMU and airbag coaches

The MR under the Ministry of Transport and Communications has increased the speed of trains on the Yangon-Mandalay main railway section due to the improvement of railway tracks, modernized signaling systems, and the use of modern locomotives and passenger coaches, which has reduced the running time. In order to make the journey more comfortable for train passengers, the Yangon-Nay Pyi Taw section is being operated with new air-conditioned DEMU coaches and the Yangon-Pyay and Yangon-Mawlamyine sections are being operated with airbag coaches attracting more passengers. Therefore, in order to ensure that travellers and departmental staff can travel comfortably during the Christmas holidays, special trains will be planned to run on the Yangon-Nay Pyi Taw-Yangon, the Yangon-Pyay-Yangon and Yangon-Mawlamyine-Yangon routes, in addition to regular trains.
In addition to special trains, regular trains will also be operated with full-load coaches. The train fares and stations will be the same as those of regular trains. For the convenience of train passengers, high-class tickets can be purchased three days in advance and ordinary tickets one day in advance at the relevant stations.
In addition, advance tickets for trains running on the Yangon-Nay Pyi Taw-Yangon route can be purchased five days in advance by making phone calls and payments using the MMQR code. According to the MR, passengers can pay for tickets using MMQR code in addition to cash.
