Myanmar's traditional Thingyan Festival has been added to UNESCO's preliminary list of Intangible Cultural Heritage, according to UNESCO's website.

Myanmar's traditional Thingyan festival has been included in the proposals to be designated as UNESCO's World Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The official decision for the submitted proposals will be made at the 19th World Intangible Cultural Heritage Conference to be held in Asuncion, Paraguay from December 2 to 7.

An archeologist considers that it is almost certain to be included in the heritage list as it was added in the proposals.

The Bagan region is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Myanmar and if Myanmar's traditional Thingyan Festival is approved by the UNESCO, it will become the first Intangible Cultural Heritage.
