Outdoor style trends come and go, but one look is quietly making waves ahead of autumn.
Fisherman core is an aesthetic that combines rope accessories, waterproof shells, nautical textures and practical bags inspired by life at sea.
While many outdoor brands could only dream about having a strong heritage in the field, for 66°North, it's simply returning to its roots.

Founded in 1926 to create protective clothing for Icelandic fishermen working in some of the harshest conditions on Earth, the outdoor brand has unveiled the new Trawler Collection that celebrates the maritime heritage that shaped its identity long before "fisherman core" had a name.
Leading the capsule are the Dyngja Shell Jacket (£300) and Dyngja Shell Pants (£170), both featuring the new Trawl print.
Trawl is a geometric pattern inspired by traditional fishing nets that gives the technical shells a distinctive, fashion-forward look without compromising their outdoor credentials.
The waterproof shells also take inspiration from an early-2000s silhouette pulled from the 66°North archive, blending heritage design with contemporary performance in a way that feels both nostalgic and modern.

A collection tied together by the sea
The fishing influence runs throughout the range, including the Trawler Tote Bag (£140), which wraps a durable everyday carryall in an oversized, net-inspired exterior.
Smaller accessories include the Trawler Belt (£40) and Trawler Chain (£20), reinterpreting fishing ropes as minimalist everyday accessories.
Even the Straumur Swimsuit (£100) carries the same net-inspired graphic, reinforcing the collection's maritime identity across every category.
It's the attention to small details that really sells this collection for me, like the swimsuit's broken fishnet pattern or the fact that the bag's net exterior actually functions as storage space for smaller items.
Each product leans into the understated, technical aesthetic that has made Scandinavian outdoor brands increasingly influential beyond the trail.
A trend with genuine heritage
The rise of fisherman core has seen more brands borrow nautical styling, but few can claim the authenticity of 66°North.
Its connection to Iceland's fishing industry is why the company exists, giving the Trawler collection surprisingly solid ground to stand on.
If fisherman core is set to become one of this autumn's defining outdoor looks, 66°North looks perfectly placed to lead the charge.
The Trawler Collection is available now at 66ºNorth, with prices from £20 / $30 / €25 (~AU$41).
