The mention is notable because Philips Hue doesn't currently sell a Play Gradient Lightstrip Pro, suggesting the company may have inadvertently confirmed a new addition to its Play lineup ahead of an official announcement.
In recent weeks, various other leaks have pointed to a Hue Screen Sync Camera, whilst another hinted at an unexpected smart lounge table. Together, they suggest Philips Hue is preparing for a significant product showcase at IFA, which kicks off in just a few weeks. If so, the Play Gradient Lightstrip Pro could be one of the headline announcements.

Whilst details remain scarce, the 'Pro' branding suggests it could sit above the existing Play Gradient Lightstrip range, potentially offering enhanced features or performance. That could also mean a higher price tag, especially given Philips Hue recently expanded its more affordable Essentials range.
As part of the Play family, the new lightstrip would almost certainly be designed for TV entertainment. Philips Hue's Play products synchronise your smart lights with what's happening on screen, extending colours from films, TV shows and games beyond the edges of your television and onto the surrounding walls for a more immersive viewing experience.
