Tiger Woods Arrested for DUI After Rollover Crash

by · VULTURE

Tiger Woods has been arrested and charged with driving under the influence after crashing his car in Florida. According to Deadline, the rollover crash took place near his home in Jupiter. Woods was uninjured. Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek says he is charged with two misdemeanors, driving under the influence with property damage, and refusal to submit to a lawful test.

The Martin County Sheriff’s Department says Woods was driving his Land Rover at a “high speed,” and swerved to avoid a truck that had a pressure cleaner on its trailer. Woods allegedly clipped the trailer, flipping the Land Rover. Although the driver’s door was pinned to the ground, Woods was able to get out via the passenger door. Officers on the scene said he “exemplified signs of impairment,” but he passed a breathalyzer test in the field. In custody, he refused a urine test.

This is Woods’ second rollover crash, the first occurring in 2021 in the Pacific Palisades. In that crash, Woods was driving over 80 mph, and he suffered serious injuries. He later said he almost lost his leg. Woods was also charged with a DUI in 2017 in Palm Beach County, but pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of reckless driving. Until this most recent crash and arrest, Woods was gearing up to return to potentially return the PGA Masters Tournament in April.
