Muse Loses Social-Media Handles to Meta AI Agent

Meta has thrown the band Muse’s social-media presence into a supermassive black hole. In anticipation of a new AI tool with that name, the band formerly known online as @Muse is now going by @Museband on all socials. Muse is @Museband not only on the Meta-owned Instagram and Facebook but on TikTok as well. On Twitter, it’s @MuseTheBand. Fittingly, they dropped the the on Facebook. Neither Meta nor the band has commented on the change, but it’s not the first time AI has stolen Muse’s lunch. When you think of “Starlight,” it’s entirely possible AI Homer Simpson pops into your brain before human man Matt Bellamy.

Muse the AI (as opposed to Muse the band or The Muse, the 1999 Albert Brooks flop) will be a personal agent that helps with decidedly unartistic tasks — things like scheduling, email, and shopping. Notably, Muse will be able to buy things on your behalf. Gone are the days when we could only blame Ambient for questionable online purchases. Muse the band is gearing up to tour its tenth album, The Wow! Signal, through Europe. Will Muse let Muse buy the greenroom snacks?
