Love Island Winner Trinity Doesn’t Want You to Be Mean to Zach

by · VULTURE

His final date may have been at a swamp, but that doesn’t mean you should treat Zach Georgiou like an ogre. Love Island USA winner Trinity Tatum is using her newly expanded platform to call off the angry mob attacking her fellow Islander Zach. “Coming out the villa one I want to say I’m very blessed and appreciative of the love of support everyone has given me,” Trinity wrote on her Instagram Story in her first real statement. “With that being said I wanna say the hate of ignorant comments some of you guys are doing regarding zach is absolutely not okay and needs to stop it’s very disheartening and we are people just like everyone else. We genuinely have love for each other inside and out of the villa and he’s one of the most amazing people I’ve met so please have some empathy.”

In the post, Trinity tagged not just Zach but all her fellow finalists, including her boyfriend Bryce Dettloff, Melanie Moreno, Aniya Harvey, and Zach’s maybe-situationship, Kayda Bosse. (Carl Lee Schmidt and Sincere Rhea’s usernames were typed but not successfully tagged.) Most of the Islanders instantly reposted her PSA. It means a lot for Trinity to specifically support Zach with her 2.4 million (and growing) followers and indicates just how close the two were inside the villa, a friendship that audiences didn’t see much of in the final edit.

So why’s everyone hating on Zach so much? Fans accused him of being disrespectful in his couple, pointing out his jokes about saying “I love you,” his reluctancy to call Kayda his girlfriend, and his general meddling in other relationships. According to a post on Threads by his brother Charlie Georgiou, who appeared on Love Island USA season seven, Zach’s TikTok account was banned after angry Love Island watchers mass-reported it. That’s a lot of anger toward someone who just gave up their entire summer for your entertainment.
