Carole Radziwill Says Carolyn Bessette Kennedy Would Have ‘Gotten a Kick Out of’ Her on RHONY

Carole Radziwill is on Bravo again, bringing back a sense of true New York royalty. She’s doing normal New Yorker things, like waiting in her car to avoid street cleaners and talking about being in the Epstein files. But for a real sense of her status, catch Radziwill talking about her dear friend Carolyn Bessette Kennedy on Watch What Happens Live! after a viewer asked what Bessette Kennedy would have thought of Radziwill’s time on The Real Housewives of New York City. “I think she would have gotten a kick out of my RHONY career,” Radziwill said. “For sure.” When Andy Cohen followed up and asked if Bessette Kennedy would have made an appearance, Radziwill declared, “No. But she would have loved it.”

Radziwill and Bessette Kennedy met after Radziwill’s husband, Anthony Radziwill, rented a Hamptons house with his cousin John F. Kennedy Jr. and Kennedy’s then-girlfriend. “She walked across the living room and put her hand on my shoulder,” Radziwill described in her book What Remains. “She seemed to know me. ‘Hi, I’m Carolyn. You must be Carole. I forgot a toothbrush. Do you have one I can use?’” At one point, the two were close enough that Bessette Kennedy wrote Radziwill a note specifically asking her to get rid of her Gap sneakers. “Our friendship cannot proceed into a growth-oriented way until you realize how important this issue is to me,” Bessette Kennedy added. Looking back on her friend’s life, Radziwill is sure the same ironic disposition would have meant Bessette Kennedy had fun with RHONY. “She had such a great sense of humor about things, about life,” Radziwill told Cohen. “She would have gotten a kick out of it.”
