Here’s the First Cold Open of SNL U.K.
by Bethy Squires · VULTUREIn hindsight, of course they would say “Live from London, it’s Saturday night!” There’s really no other thing they could say. But I was still kind of shocked to hear it. The first episode of SNL U.K. premiered live (from London) March 21, and it looks like even they cannot escape the obligatory Trump cold open. Prime Minister Keir Starmer (George Fouracres) and Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy (Hammed Animashaun) are trying to figure out how to withdraw support from Trump re: starting WW3 while still maintaining the “special relationship.” Or as his Gen Z adviser (Jack Shep) calls it the “special situationship.” The trick? Voice memo. It’s mostly about different episodes of Friends, but Starmer’s pretty sure he got the point across. Watch the full show when SNL U.K. drops on Peacock Sunday.
