Paramount+ Has Criminalized Its Last Mind
by Bethy Squires · VULTUREIs this really the end of the BAU? The greater Skydance family of products announced that season 20 of Criminal Minds: Evolution will be its last. A Connor Storrie casting coup could keep the show running for only one more season. “It’s hard to put into words what Criminal Minds has meant to all of us who have been fortunate enough to be part of this extraordinary journey, first on CBS for 15 seasons and then on Paramount+ for 5,” showrunner Erica Messer said in a statement obtained by Variety. “While suddenly navigating the end of this chapter, I’m filled with gratitude for our remarkable cast, writers, directors, and crew who have poured their hearts into this show, and for the incredible fans around the world whose unwavering loyalty has kept Criminal Minds going for two decades.”
Criminal Minds premiered on CBS in 2005. It lasted for 15 seasons on broadcast TV before its first series finale in 2020. In 2022, it was revived for streaming and retitled Criminal Minds: Evolution. This final season will see fan favorites Joe Mantegna, A.J. Cook, Kirsten Vangsness, Aisha Tyler, Adam Rodriguez, and Paget Brewster returning for one last profiling sesh. CM:E has run for four years, and its fifth streaming season (20th overall) is set to run some time in 2027. But it will always live on in three-minute chunks on TikTok.
