"Belgrade is getting a metro. We have technical problems, when the drilling machine will arrive, will it start working in April - but before that we have to build the stations, I won't explain a thousand things to you, but in two to three years you will have a metro in Belgrade", Vucic said as he toured the New Sava Bridge construction site.

He added that the metro will be comfortable and modern, and to the satisfaction of all citizens.

"The stations will be small masterpieces. You enter the metro and in five minutes you get from Mirijevo to Cukarica. It goes through these central streets, here from the Faculty of Economics, Belgrade Waterfront and beyond," said Vucic.

When asked by a journalist what Belgrade looks like to him today, Vucic said that it looks nice, but that he would like it to be "decorated (for the holidays) better."

"To me, Belgrade has never been more beautiful, I've always loved it, I was born in this city, Belgrade is a beautiful city and it is yet to be built up. Belgrade will get an aquarium, a natural history museum, and a national stadium, these two completely new bridges," the president said.

He added that Belgrade is making progress quickly, but that he would like other cities in Serbia to do the same.

"It makes sense that they progress. Belgrade is progressing quickly, but I would like all other cities to progress at the same pace. They are, but there is much more money in Belgrade because of the state institutions and everything else. I want us to direct as much money as possible from Belgrade to other parts of Serbia," said Vucic.

Asked "if it is possible to stop Serbia's progress", Vucic said that there have been attempts to do that.

"They tried, show me what they have achieved anywhere," Vucic said.

The president recalled that the living standard is increasing, although people "do not want to admit it".
