Emergency in central Prijepolje! This was found in Lim River, police at the scene, part of bank cordoned off

An explosive device, which is assumed to originate from the period of the Second World War, was found today in the Lim River, in the very center of the town of Prijepolje is southwestern Serbia.

"The explosive device was first noticed by the citizens, who immediately informed the police. Members of the Police Administration in Prijepolje went out to the scene, secured the location and prevented passers-by from approaching the part of the river bank where the grenade was found. The arrival of a specialist team from Uzice is expected, which will take over the device and dispose of it in a safe manner," it has been confirmed for RINA.

For now, there is no information on how long the grenade has been in the river, and it is assumed that it became visible to citizens due to the low water level.

Officials are appealing on residents in Prijepolje never to approach unexploded ordnance, not to touch or try to move it, but to immediately inform the police about the discovery.
