RTE 2FM star Laura Fox opens up about confidence battle as she struggles with 'cyst-like' adult acne
by Sandra Mallon · Irish Mirror2FM star Laura Fox has opened up about losing her confidence after she became plagued with cyst-like acne.
Beauty queen Laura – who was voted Miss Galway in 2013 – has battled with boil-like acne since she was 28.
Laura said she not only wants to get rid of her acne for her wedding day in two years' time, but also to get rid of it for life, admitting it rocks her self-confidence.

Speaking exclusively to The Irish Mirror on Wednesday night at beauty brand Human+Kind's glitzy event, Laura said she had to enlist the help of expert dermatologists to help tame her skin.
She said: "I have problems with my skin. There is no 'had' about it. They're still completely ongoing.
"I just had an appointment with the dermatologist this year after waiting for so long.
"I got adult acne when I was 28 and it took up all the way down from my cheekbone down to my chin.
"The impact it had on my confidence was just next level," she admitted.
Laura is troubled with cystic acne and detailed how painful her skin can feel.
"I have cystic acne. We're talking about big boils. It's the sorest thing ever. I got that under control just by doing anything to it.
"But then my back erupted. I've had problems with my back since I was 14. I've always had spots on my back.
"I'd go on holidays, have a great time, then come in from the pool and see my back. I would just burst out crying.
"They would be big white sores, to the point that if my bra strap was lying on them, I would be in pain.
"I went on Oratane this year for that and it has been really good.
"But the side effects of it is that your skin dries up. My arms and the top of my back go incredibly dry."
The Ireland's Fittest Family host said she needs to be careful with what products she puts on her body and what tan and makeup brands she works with.
But on Wednesday night, she was happy to announce she is a brand ambassador for Human+Kind along with former Miss World Rosanna Davison and Mandy Maher.
She revealed the brand's body soufflé is what helps keep her skin hydrated.
"I'm 34 now and I've really grown into myself. I don't really rely on people's opinion of me. I can only control what I think.
"Skincare is so personal, and I’m thrilled to represent a brand that champions inclusivity and kindness in its products. I really like their ethos across everything, it’s not just the formula.
"Their packaging is made from sugarcane and it’s traceable, so it can go straight into the recycling! They’re doing everything right, inside and out."
