Ireland cap off memorable year with come from behind win against USA

It was a successful end to the year as Ireland beat USA on Friday night.

Ireland took advantage of United States indiscipline to come from behind and wrap up their WXV1 campaign with a 26-14 win in Vancouver.

Two tries from Hope Rogers on her 50th international appearance, either side of an Erin King reply, gave the US a 14-7 lead at half-time but a penalty try awarded after a Tahlia Brody sin-binning brought the Irish level.

Cliodhna Moloney and Amee-Leigh Murphy Crowe then touched down in the closing stages to win it for Ireland as the US also lost Rachel Ehrecke and Rachel Johnson to yellow cards.

The win comes after a memorable end of the year for Ireland. Scott Bemand's side started off their autumn with a home win against Australia before travelling to Vancouver to beat New Zealand in a massive upset.

The side did lose to Canada despite a spirited effort but a further win against the USA caps off a good 2024.

Ireland earned big wins against both Wales and Scotland in the Six Nations earlier this year.
