Mumbai News Live Updates (September 23): The city woke up to light rain on Monday morning as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a ‘yellow alert’ for the next three days.  The weather agency predicts thunderstorms, lightning, and moderate to heavy rainfall in Mumbai until Wednesday. Today, temperatures are expected to range from a high of 32°C to a low of 26°C.

The Indian Express has learned that the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has launched an ambitious plan to encircle Mumbai with a network of ring roads designed to decongest the city, alleviate traffic issues, and reduce travel time over the next five years. Meanwhile, the Chief Justice of India, D Y Chandrachud, will lay the foundation stone of the Bombay High Court’s new building complex in Bandra (East) on Monday evening. As per a release by the HC administration, possession of 30.16 acres of land will be handed over to the High Court in a phased manner, of which, the first tranche measuring 4.39 acres has already been handed over, as per assurance given to the Supreme Court.
