The Mumbai city woke up to heavy rains on Friday with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a ‘yellow alert’ predicting light to moderate rainfall. IMD has issued a similar warning for neighbouring regions of Palghar, Thane, and Pune until October 13. Data from the IMD showed that between Thursday and Friday morning, the Colaba coastal observatory recorded 43 mm rain, while the Santacruz station registered 27 mm rain.

Meanwhile, the Indian Air Force (IAF) will conduct a trial run featuring its Airbus C295 transport aircraft and a Sukhoi fighter jet at Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), both set to take off from the newly constructed runway. This trial run is a significant part of the runway testing process, a key step before the airport’s official operational launch, scheduled for March 2025.
