Potentially toxic gas smelled in Auckland's Newmarket

A hazardous materials unit has been sent to the Auckland suburb of Newmarket, after a potentially toxic gas could be smelled.

Crews from Remuera, Auckland City, Parnell, Grey Lynn were working to confirm what Fire and Emergency's equipment had detected.

It was inside a two-storey building, approximately 300 square metres, on Eden Street.

Fire and Emergency also called an ambulance for a member of the public.
