“With BTS, even rain feels happy” Purple raincoats flood Goyang for BTS's 'ARIRANG' concert
by Demian09 · allkpop“Even if it rains, I’m happy with BTS. Just being able to see the full group in concert after so long is such a joy,” said a fan in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province.
On the rainy afternoon of April 9, the area around Goyang Stadium, where BTS held their concert, was filled with purple. ARMYs, the official BTS fandom, waved purple umbrellas and wore purple raincoats, creating a vivid violet spectacle.
The rain did not dampen fans’ spirits. Excitement and anticipation filled the air as they waited for BTS’s performance. Teodora, a fan in her 20s from Italy, said, “I’m so happy to be here for BTS’s concert, but I do worry about the members slipping on the wet stage. I hope the show ends safely.”
Budhya, visiting from Indonesia, said with a bright smile, “I live in Japan but came specifically for the Goyang concert. We arrived at Incheon International Airport around noon today. It is a bit tough with the rain, but the happiness outweighs any discomfort.”
The two fans, who introduced themselves as friends, explained how BTS brought them together. “We met two years ago at ‘BTS Festa’,” they said. “ARMY is one. It unites us.” BTS opened their new world tour 'ARIRANG' at Goyang Stadium’s main arena, which has a capacity of over 40,000, and showcased a 360-degree stage. The tour continues with three performances in Goyang on April 9, 11, and 12.
As the concert approached, the energy on-site grew. Fans moved to the entrance to catch every note during the soundcheck. When the members’ microphones were audible outside the venue, fans listened closely or recorded videos. When “Hooligan” played, a massive cheer erupted. Many danced in their raincoats or wiped away tears of joy.
Fans shared how BTS has impacted their lives. From childhood to difficult moments, the group’s music has been a constant presence. Ayu, a fan from Singapore, described BTS as “a happy refuge” and added, “I have listened to their songs since I was young. When I feel down, their music lifts me up. They are a sanctuary and a mental escape.”
Christina, in her 40s from Malaysia, said, “I am a teacher, and my job can be stressful. But when I return home and listen to BTS, everything feels fine. For that moment, all my worries disappear. I even took leave to see the concert. I am very excited.”
Despite heavy crowds and rain, order was largely maintained around the venue. Police officers and traffic staff were stationed near crosswalks and subway stations to ensure safety before the concert.
Following the Goyang shows, BTS will continue their tour to Busan, Tokyo, North and South America, and Europe, performing in 34 cities for a total of 85 shows.
