BTS to turn Busan purple with massive ‘THE CITY’ anniversary festival
by Minsoo-Kim · allkpopBTS will once again transform Busan into a purple celebration zone with the return of its large-scale city festival project, ‘BTS THE CITY ARIRANG - BUSAN.’
The project, scheduled for June 12 to 13 around BTS’ debut anniversary on June 13, is designed as a citywide cultural festival that both citizens and tourists can enjoy together.
BTS previously held “THE CITY” project in Busan during the group’s 2022 concert supporting the city’s bid for the 2030 World Expo, turning the city into a large-scale concert-themed playground.
About four years later, BTS is returning to Busan for a special “homecoming” celebration, making this year’s event even more meaningful for fans.
The festival is being organized with active support and cooperation from the Busan Metropolitan Government, with the goal of creating an open celebration for both concertgoers and the general public.
Major Busan landmarks will be illuminated with BTS-themed content, including a drone light show over Gwangan Bridge and a large-scale light show at Busan Cinema Center. Additional media displays will also appear at the Busan Eurasia Platform and Gwangbok-ro.
Festival zones such as “Love Song Lounge” and “Love Quarter,” linked with Haeundae Beach’s sand festival, will allow visitors to enjoy the BTS-inspired atmosphere throughout the city.
A fan community space titled “ARMY MADANG” will also open at The Bay 101, featuring sponsor booths from global tech companies and immersive entertainment experiences combining technology and music.
Shopping and food-related programs are also planned. A large-scale pop-up store at Shinsegae Centum City will feature official merchandise and interactive exhibition zones, while various local culinary brands are set to participate in the event.
In addition, themed experiences including Busan city tours, yacht tours, and special hotel packages at Paradise Hotel Busan will allow fans to experience BTS’ music and message throughout their stay.
