The iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, despite their compatibility with Apple Intelligence, have been discontinued.

In with the new, out with the old: Apple discontinues the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 13

by · AppleInsider

It's still possible to get a new iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro Max from retailers if you hurry, but Apple has officially discontinued both 2023 models, as well as the iPhone 13 and other products as part of its annual streamlining.

As it does every year, Apple has officially discontinued a list of products that have been replaced by newer items. In keeping with this practice, the company has discontinued the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max — the two previous iPhones capable of running Apple Intelligence.

Buyers who might still prefer those models should still be able to find stock for a limited time online and at third-party retail stores until inventory runs out. Some stores are offering discounts on both models to clear existing stock.

With the new iPhones, the oldest iPhone still in production was also dropped; this year, that would be 2021's iPhone 13. The full iPhone line now consists of the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, the four new iPhone 16 models, and the third-generation iPhone SE from 2022.

The iPhone 13 was noteworthy at its introduction for its smaller notch, along with a new camera system. It originally sold for $799, but was discounted down to $599 when the iPhone 15 was introduced.

The iPhone 14 has now been discounted to the same $599 price, with the iPhone 14 Plus now selling for $699. The regular iPhone 15 is now priced at $699, with the iPhone 15 Plus selling for $799. The current iPhone SE's pricing starts at $429, but buyers should bear in mind that it is likely Apple will update the iPhone SE sometime in 2025.

Other products Apple has discontinued

At its September event, Apple replaced the AirPods Max line with almost identical models in new colors — and with a USB-C port instead of Lightning. Consequently, the previous AirPods Max have all been discontinued.

The two new AirPods 4 models replace both the AirPods 2 and AirPods 3.

The regular Airpods 2 and AirPods 3 have also been replaced with two new models of AirPods 4. The $129 version features a new design, an upgrade to the H2 chip, and support for personalized spatial audio with dynamic head tracking.

For $179, a second version of the AirPods 4 adds active noise cancellation, adaptive audio, transparency mode, conversation awareness, and a USB-C charging case with a speaker that also supports Apple Watch charging and Qi wireless charging.

After introducing the Apple Watch Series 10, the company has also discontinued the Apple Watch Series 9. The Apple Watch Ultra 2 lineup was unchanged, apart from a new smooth slate casing color option.

Apple has also dropped its line of FineWoven iPhone cases after negative feedback on the material from some customers. Apple has not discontinued all FineWoven products, however; the material is still used for some Apple Watch bands and a MagSafe wallet accessory.
