Quite a few filmmaker are now trying their hands at OTT. From Anurag Kashyap to Rohit Shetty, some of the biggest filmmakers have experimented on OTT by directing web series. Most of them have been hits. The latest one that grabbed a lot of attention was Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. Sanjay Leela Bhansali directed the first episode of the web series and gave all his creative inputs for Netflix's original web series. Now, it is time for Karan Johar to step into the ring.

As per the latest updates in entertainment news, Karan Johar is all set to now direct a web series for Netflix. He seems to be going Sanjay Leela Bhansali way and will be directing a big-budget web series for which the script has already been finalised. The work on the said web series is slate to begin in early 2025. Sources share that the casting of the web series is currently underway and it will have an ensemble cast of renowned female actors. "Being a Karan Johar show, the web series is considered to be Netflix's most ambitious upcoming project. It will be shot throughout 2025 and is set to stream in 2026," share sources as reports hit entertainment news.

Karan Johar's production banner has backed many OTT projects. The latest one is Call Me Bae that released on Amazon Prime Video. It stars Ananya Panday in the leading role. The story is about a girl who is disowned by her family. From a mansion princess to a journalist struggling to survive, Call Me Bae is fun and entertaining. He has also produced Showtime, The Fame Fame and many more. His upcoming Netflix series will mark his directorial debut on OTT space. The storyline, cast, release date and more is still under wraps. His last directorial venture was Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani that started Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh.

Currently, in terms of films, Karan Johar's next big release is Jigra. He has co-produced the movie along with Alia Bhatt. It is a story of siblings played by Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina.
