I have never had the answer to why'. Shah Rukh Khan once expressed regret for his decisions of dropping Aishwarya from films. In an interview with India Today in 2003, he said, 'To start a project with someone and then change her for no fault of hers is very difficult. It is very sad as Ash is a good friend. Personally I think I did wrong. But as a producer it made sense. I apologised to Ash'. Shah Rukh Khan apologised to Aishwarya after he realised his mistake.

Reportedly, Salman who was then dating Aishwarya created a ruckus on the sets of Chalte Chalte. Salman and Aishwarya apologized to Shah Rukh Khan and the actress got replaced by Rani Mukerji. As per reports, Salman getting physical with Aishwarya was when Shah Rukh Khan had no choice but to replace Aish with Rani Mukerji. Even at Karan Johar’s birthday party in 2009, Shah Rukh was said to have apologized to Aishwarya for not having helped her during her tough times. She forgave him, after which both of them got along well.
