Programme on sustainable development of women SHG’s conducted at NU Lumami

Dimapur, September 24: Sustainable Poultry farming is gaining momentum in Akuluto area of Zunheboto district. The programme sponsored by NABARD, Dimapur “Promoting sustainable livelihood and nutritional security of women SHG’s through low-cost egg incubator and backyard poultry production” in Zunheboto district of Nagaland under Farm sector Promotion Fund is underway, where 4000 chicks have already been distributed to 3 villages and another 2000 chicks along with feed, feeder and drinker were distributed on September 24 to Lumami and Zaphumi women SHGs by Prof. JK Patnaik, Vice Chancellor, Nagaland University at KVK office, Lumami.

Prof. J.K. Patnaik exhorted that his vision as Vice Chancellor of Nagaland University is not only for academic development but also the development of the villages and local communities. He informed the gathering that Nagaland has the potential for development in Agri and Allied sector and can compete not only with North Eastern states but also with other mainland states.

He emphasized on empowerment of women SHG’s which plays a pivotal role in development of any society and economy of the state. He was of the opinion that the programme sponsored by NABARD for sustainable livelihood for women SHG’s will help them development socially and economically.
