Tikhir Tsonglaknyi celebrated at Kiusam Town

Dimapur, October 10: Tikhir Tsonglaknyi was celebrated at Kiusam Town on October 10. The celebration began with the prayer led by Rev. P Rangthong, KTBC Pastor. An august gathering was marked in the presence of many dignitaries and the people of Kiusam Town. This gathering was organised by Tsonglak committee of Kiusam Town.

V Asuthong, a second GB conveyed the message on the meaning of Tsonglak. Addressing the gathering he said the meaning of ‘tsonglaknyi’ is made up of two words: “Tsong” means Shield and “lak” means sanctification. In ancient it was a feast of menfolk, on this day menfolk do the cleansing of weapons and other valuable assets. It was the most important festival celebrated among the people of Tikhir.

Rev. Fr. Thomas Toretkiu, in his speech said to thank God for the many blessing that our ancestors brought in our culture of purification and sanctification. In ancient there was cleansing of weapons and shields. “Today this value of cleansing and sanctification continues by introspecting ourselves, renewing the spirit of prosperity, building relationship in sharing and caring,” he said.

There was donation and contributions offered by the dignitaries and people who attended the programme. After the cultural dance, meal was served to all. A friendly volleyball match was also organized to marked this occasion.
