Dimapur, November 8: Tokhu Emong celebration concluded at the local ground in Wokha with S. Supongmeren Jamir, MP Lok Sabha, Nagaland, extending warm greetings to the Lotha community. He highlighted the unique significance of Tokhu Emong, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to honor the past. Jamir praised the visionary Lotha ancestors for establishing a festival dedicated to forgiveness and renewing relationships.

He emphasized that the present generation has lost the true essence of the celebration and urged the congregation to revisit the traditional practices and culture of their ancestors. He stressed that Tokhu Emong is a day for unity and forgiveness under one umbrella.

Jamir acknowledged the special privilege given to the Lotha community, recognizing them as forerunners.

He applauded their skills and thoughtful actions, urging them to remain united and foster positive competition to serve the Naga community and the Lothas in particular. He warned that division and misunderstanding within the Lotha community would affect not only them but the entire Naga society and the state.

He reminded the audience that the Tokhu celebration predates Christianity, with ancestors practicing religious and thoughtful traditions. Now, as Christians, he called upon everyone to follow and practice Christian values without offending God.

He expressed that while unity is often discussed, it is rarely taken seriously at a heart-to-heart level. He urged the congregation to use the celebration of Tokhu Emong to bring about real unity and receive blessings.

Earlier, S. Supongmeren Jamir also unveiled an ambulance for the Lotha Community, handing it over to the Lotha Hoho through the local area development fund of the Lok Sabha.

The program was enthralled by cultural dances performed by groups from Assam and Manipur, folksongs by the Ao Union Wokha Town, demonstrations of Naga-style wrestling, and a final tug-of-war match between Zuvotong Colony and Midland Colony, with the latter emerging as the Tokhu Emong 2024 champion.

Meanwhile, the culmination event of Tokhu Emong and musical night was graced by Echungbemo, SDO civil Wokha as the valedictory guest.
