Collin Gosselin says his mother, Kate, has never once acknowledged she might have taken things too far, and he has a message for her. His message came the same day ABC aired his interview with Juju Chang, one day before his memoir lands.
The 22-year-old, the fourth of the Gosselin sextuplets who grew up on TLC’s “Jon & Kate Plus 8,” said he does not blame himself for how his childhood went.
Asked if he still loves Kate Gosselin, Collin said he loves the memories of her from before she changed. He described a feeling he thinks is common for people with broken parent relationships: “A part of me always wants that.”
He also said he was not wrong for feeling exploited every day of his childhood, and that Kate has never acknowledged she might have taken things too far. In his telling, she never voiced that maybe she wanted a paycheck, that it was easy, that she pushed the kids out there too much or ignored them when they said they did not want to be filmed.

In his own words: “She’s never ever thought or voiced, maybe I was wrong. Maybe I took it too far. Maybe I wanted a paycheck and it was easy and I took it too far and I put them out there too much and I didn’t listen to them when they didn’t want to be filmed. Mom, if you’re watching this, I want to say that everything I went through as a kid, I did not deserve it and you should have done better as a mother.”
Kate has said the opposite. In 2016 she told ABC she would never regret documenting those years. In June 2026 she called the memoir allegations ridiculous and made up, and said she would sue for defamation if public-figure rules allowed it.
Collin’s book, “In the Shadow of Eight,” is out from Grand Central on Oct. 13.
