Elon Musk Unfollowed One of His Baby Moms, and She’s Crashing Out Big Time

Elon Musk has a way of making headlines without saying a word — and this time, all it took was an unfollow. When the billionaire quietly stopped following Shivon Zilis, the mother of four of his children, on X, she responded publicly and at length, turning a social media snub into a very public meditation on love, loss, and co-parenting.
“I feel happy that I got to show Elon how it feels to be deeply understood, nurtured, and peacefully loved with stability and gentleness.”
Shivon Zilis, who has 4 children with Elon Musk, said she’d gone from being in love to being let go within a week, without warning.
On October 2, an account monitoring Musk’s follows flagged that he’d stopped following her. Zilis quote-posted it: “It’s hard to go from in love to let go in a week with no warning, but that’s just how it is sometimes.” She said she hoped they could remain friends and co-parents, ending with “God speed, Elon.”
Her lengthy post waxed poetic about what she’d offered him: “We were always his safe space. A place where all of us were overjoyed to see him and one that was always full of happiness and love, not war, in contrast to his otherwise militant existence.”
Their connection stretches back to her time at OpenAI, which she joined around 2016. In court this year, Zilis described a romantic “one-off” with Musk sometime after she joined the company, followed by a friendship. Around 2020, while they weren’t together, Musk offered to be her sperm donor, and she accepted.
Their twins, Strider and Azure, were born in 2021. They later had 2 more children, Arcadia and Seldon. Zilis has said she and Musk became romantically involved again, and he’s referred to her as his partner.
Musk was also dating Grimes in an on-again, off-again relationship from 2018-2022.
Zilis spent 2 years working on Tesla’s Autopilot team and served on OpenAI’s board until 2023. She’s currently Neuralink’s director of operations and special projects.
