In episode 6 of this season of Euphoria, Bishop tells the story of how Alamo came to own his pet python. The snake belonged to a stripper who loved it so much she slept with it curled around her at night. She became concerned when the snake stopped eating and brought it to the vet.

The vet told her that the snake wraps itself around her at night because it is “sizing her up”. The vet says the reason the snake stopped eating is because “it’s preparing itself for a much larger meal.” Basically, the girl’s pet snake was planning to eat her. She gave the snake to Alamo, who kept it as a reminder that you “never really know a motherf***ers true intentions.”

Bishop was hard to read all season. He was quiet and dutiful, doing what needed to be done in service of Alamo. Some fans speculated he was working with the DEA because he did appear to want to protect Rue.

On the way to the strip club in the final episode, Maddy tells Bishop it would be nice if she got a little grace. I think this may have been the straw that broke the camel’s back for Bishop, who was already mourning Rue and already angry that Alamo had him kill Laurie’s bird (Bishop is shown to be an animal lover, exemplified by his new poodle). He removed the bullets from Alamo’s gun, which resulted in Alamo’s death.

The purpose of the snake story is revealed. Bishop was Alamo’s “pet snake” that was secretly sizing him up and preparing to devour him.

You never really know a motherf***ers true intentions.
