Personal care, beauty industry seen growing 10%

by · BusinessWorld Online

THE personal care and beauty industry is expected to grow by up to 10% this year, driven by demand from the young population and wider access to brands through electronic commerce (e-commerce) platforms, the Chamber of Cosmetics Industry of the Philippines, Inc. (CCIP) said.

“The forecast is that we will have the same growth this year of 9% to 10%,” CCIP President Janina G. Tan told reporters on the sidelines of the Cosmobeauté Philippines 2026 trade show on Wednesday.

In 2025, the industry posted 10.1% growth in retail sales to P320.85 million, she said.

“What is more exciting is that the industry forecasts that this momentum of growth is expected to continue through 2026,” Ms. Tan said in a speech.

The industry counts producers of skincare, moisturizers, and color cosmetic products as its members.

Sun care products like sunscreen are expected to be the most in-demand product after having posted sales growth of 16% last year.

Ms. Tan said the rise of social media and content creation continues to shape consumer preferences and boost product visibility.

“With content creators and social media, we are able to bring our products to everyone’s attention,” she said.

Ms. Tan noted that despite high prices as a result of the Middle East conflict, demand for personal care and beauty products remains strong.

“Especially in the mass market, the demand is still there,” she said.

Ms. Tan noted that her company HairReve, which makes products that alleviate hair loss, posted strong sales during the Easter break, when the market typically slows down.

“This year, for some reason, our sales online surged. I think people are bored, and they’re not traveling because the gas is expensive,” according to Ms. Tan, the founder and chief executive officer of HairReve.

Interest is also growing in local and responsibly sourced products, Ms. Tan added.

The chamber has been working with the Department of Trade and Industry’s Export Marketing Bureau to boost exports, she said.
