Aesop has introduced the Parsley Seed Deep-Cleansing Protocol, a three-step regimen built around the cleansing formulations from its Parsley Seed Skin Care range. Designed for city dwellers navigating airborne pollutants, product accumulation, and the daily friction of urban life, the protocol works sequentially through Beta-Carotene, Lactic Acid, and Mineral Clays to clear the skin of impurities before the wider range’s anti-oxidant formulations can work at full efficacy.
The protocol’s three-step structure is ingredient-driven from the first application. Step one pairs Parsley Seed Facial Cleansing Oil with Parsley Seed Facial Cleanser in a double cleanse designed to be performed in the evening or morning. The cleansing oil, enriched with Beta-Carotene, is massaged into dry skin using circular motions to break down product residue and neutralize impurities, with particular attention to the hairline and the area around the nose where excess sebum accumulates. After rinsing, the Parsley Seed Facial Cleanser follows. A clarifying gel rather than a cream or foam, it delivers mild exfoliation via Lactic Acid, smoothing the skin’s surface without stripping moisture or leaving tightness. The double cleanse format is deliberate: the oil phase dissolves residue that water-based cleansers cannot lift, while the Lactic Acid step works on the skin itself rather than its surface coating.
Step three operates on a weekly rather than daily cadence. The Parsley Seed Cleansing Masque is applied as an even layer and left for fifteen minutes until fully dry, then dampened and wiped away without harsh rubbing. Its active combination of Mineral Clays, specifically Kaolin and Bentonite, absorbs excess oil and balances sebum levels, mattifying the skin and drawing out any congestion that the daily double cleanse has not fully addressed. “When dealing with congestion or seasonal dullness, a deep cleanse to draw out any lingering grime or excess oil — both of which can clog the pores — should be a first port of call,” says Lisa Reynolds, Aesop’s Global Treatments Training & Development Specialist. “Clean skin is also more receptive: with impurities removed from the pores, formulations can better work on the skin’s surface and deliver maximum efficacy.”
The protocol is designed as preparation rather than a complete regimen. Once the three-step cleansing sequence has cleared the skin of accumulated residue and balanced its sebum levels, it becomes more receptive to the wider Parsley Seed Skin Care range’s anti-oxidant toner, serums, and moisturisers. Centred around Parsley Seed Oil, a botanical extract with documented anti-oxidant properties, the range has been addressing urban skin concerns since it launched approximately 25 years ago. The protocol formalizes and sequences the cleansing step that precedes all of it.
