Koenigsegg's Official CCXR Test Car Surfaces for Auction
The “Streetfighter 7031,” thought to be developed in part and toured by Norwegian industrial designer Bard Eker.
by Arthur Parkhouse · HypebeastA remarkable piece of hypercar history, the 2006 Koenigsegg CCXR Prototype, is set to go up for auction at Bonhams Cars. This unique prototype represents a pioneering moment for eco-conscious high-performance vehicles, as one of the first supercars designed with biofuel compatibility, specifically E85 ethanol. Based on the earlier CCX model, the CCXR Prototype’s development marked an environmental milestone by merging biofuel efficiency with immense power.
Under the hood, this prototype boasts a 4.8L twin-supercharged V8 engine, producing over 1,000 hp when running on E85. This power enables speeds exceeding 250 mph, showcasing Koenigsegg’s extreme performance capabilities. Lightweight carbon fiber construction, sleek aerodynamics and signature dihedral synchro-helix doors enhance both its agility and appeal.
Chassis 7031 or “Streetfighter 7031,” features a satin black exterior, repositioned washer nozzles and unique air vents behind the front wheel arches, hinting at its testing and certification role. Spotted initially in 2006 without badges, it resurfaced in 2012 bearing CCXR emblems and distinctive Streetfighter 7031 decals, reinforcing its evolution within the CCXR program. The prototype’s dark gray leather and Alcantara-accented interior is complemented by a carbon fiber dashboard and early infotainment system.
Other notable details include various Rudskogen circuit decals, Norway’s oldest asphalt race circuit and a venue the vehicle was showcased during the early 2000s. The vehicle also features decals with Bard Eker’s name, a Norwegian industrial designer and entrepreneur who played a significant role in the development and growth of the Koenigsegg and the CCX series. While minimal detail has been shared by Bonhams Cars at the time of writing in terms of provenance, it is thought that Streetfighter 7031 stayed with Eker and was shown on several occasions.
Bidding for this special 2006 Koenigsegg CCXR prototype is set to open on December 12, as part of Bonhams Cars’ The Bond Street Sale, with estimates as high as $2,300,000 USD.
