Moncler has opened its largest global flagship on Fifth Avenue, a 23,680-square-foot, two-level space built through a two-decade design collaboration with French studio Gilles & Boissier. The store’s architecture leans directly into the brand’s mountain-meets-metropolis identity, translating that idea into scale, material choice, and structural detail rather than surface-level branding.
Ceilings rise more than eight meters from the moment of entry, creating a sense of verticality that echoes both Moncler’s alpine heritage and the skyscrapers surrounding the store. Monumental columns punctuate the interior, while a freestanding “curiosity cabin” is built to house rotating seasonal installations. The exterior glass facade is clad in Saint Williams granite and integrated with LED strips, producing a kinetic lighting effect designed to hold its own against the visual intensity of nearby Times Square.
Inside, a signature checkerboard floor alternates between polished and raw textures, and that same stone material carries through the columns, arches, and walls to establish an earthy, consistent base beneath the more sculptural elements above it. Towering textured glass displays are built to resemble frozen waterfalls, while curated artworks and multimedia installations run throughout the space. A sculptural stonework centerpiece by Ugo Rondinone connects the two floors directly, anchoring the store’s vertical layout with a mountainous physical presence, alongside additional works from Jean-Guillaume Mathiaut, Paul Bik, and Arno Declercq.
The ground floor houses the latest Men’s, Women’s, and Enfant designs from the Moncler Collection main line, along with Moncler Genius co-creations and the brand’s newest footwear. The second floor is dedicated entirely to Moncler Grenoble, spanning high-performance skiwear, goggles, après-ski pieces, and lightweight hiking and trekking layers, alongside partner products including Moncler Grenoble’s interpretations of Stöckli skis, POC helmets, and WHITESPACE x Moncler Grenoble snowboards developed with Shaun White.
