G-SHOCK’s 2100 “Luxe Black” Series Delivers Staple Accessories Every Creative Needs
In a new campaign, Hypebeast meets community curator Osama Mutasem to discover how the watches bring much-needed versatility to his day-to-day life.
by Angelee Kholia · HypebeastBehind every G-SHOCK watch is founder Kikuo Ibe’s ambition to make “a watch that never breaks,” and for its latest release, this approach evolves into the “Luxe Black” series. Maintaining the brand’s signature durability and distinctly structured aesthetic, the series introduces the GM-2100LXB and GA-2100LXB with a refined all-black aesthetic.
Taking a closer look, both iterations in the series play with a range of textures. From the matte black dial with a fine-grain surface to the vapor-deposited glass and markers, each component brings a multi-dimensional feel that elevates the foundational design of the boxy 2100 line. As for the “Luxe” element, the brand layers the faces with hints of silver in two iterations and gold in the others. Similar to the dial and bio-based resin band, these metallic tones have a matte finish to round out the refined aesthetic.
With the new drop standing out as a modern staple, Hypebeast explores how the 2100 “Luxe Black” series fits into the life of Abu Dhabi-based Osama Mutasem. Captured in a new campaign, the community curator and founder of Hang With Me takes the GA-2100LXB on the go as he visits Al Serkal Avenue and stops off at The Hive.
While the watch lends a sleek look that matches Mutasem’s tailored style, its versatility proves to be the highlight of its design. Effortlessly transitioning from meetings with fellow creators to scouting concept stores for fresh inspiration, the model provides the curator with uncompromised reliability and an understated edge of confidence.
