A City In Frame: Megan Collante
‘Some Things Never Change’ featuring the All-Electric Toyota bZ
by Eddie Eng · HypebeastToyota has tapped NYC-native photographer Megan Collante to present “A City in Frame: Some Things Never Change,” featuring the bZ, part of Toyota’s New All-Electric Family.
Since middle school, Kenny and Alex have had a ritual: after school, Alex would be waiting outside by the buses and the two would go get ice cream – no plan, no discussion needed. It’s stuck around ever since, even as everything else about their lives changed.
Kenny has finally put his brushes down after a 12-hour day in the studio, paint still under his fingernails. His art has only gotten bigger, messier, more demanding as his career has taken off – bigger canvases, later nights, more of himself poured into every piece. But no matter how complicated the day gets, the drive to their spot never does. Alex just puts the bZ in gear and goes, its electrifying performance makes the trip through Manhattan traffic feel effortless and exhilarating, like no time has passed since they were 12 years old. With the touch of a finger, the same playlist they’ve been curating since middle school plays on repeat, turning the bZ into a sanctuary of comfort. And when their one scoop turns into a long night of unwinding through the driving roads near Storm King Mountain, there’s no worry about getting home: miles of charge means a night of memory making.
Their tradition bends, but it never breaks. In the end, some things never change.
