District Vision and Ghiaia Cashmere have officially released the Yukari Windshield Ghiaia, resurrecting an archival eyewear frame originally discontinued in 2020. Rooted in the shared bond between two family-run California labels, the project serves as a meeting point between technical running and Italian heritage sportswear.
Reflecting on the personal origins of the project, the collaborative team shared, “When I met Davide it felt like friendship that was family. Sometimes, we put the kids to bed and have a nightcap at the Langham in Pasadena, and we talk about our dreams and our childhood. One of those dreams came to life and this is it.”
For this project, Ghiaia Cashmere founder Davide Baroncini looked to District Vision’s vault, gravitating toward the Yukari Windshield’s silhouette which draws cues from classic Italian eyewear references like the Persol 649 and 714. Rendered in a Glossy Tortoise finish, the frame nods to the golden era of Italian sportswear and Ghiaia Cashmere’s dedication to tailoring, cashmere, and natural textiles within an active setting.
The release also marks the first time District Vision has implemented mineral glass lenses across its eyewear lineup. Known for superior optical clarity, minimal visual distortion, and enhanced scratch resistance, the added density of the mineral glass gives the frame a substantial weight, blending modern performance with an analog sensibility.
