Apple is preparing to close out an unusually dense release schedule with a special hardware event scheduled for Wednesday, October 28, at 10 a.m. PT. Taking place in Los Angeles, the impending showcase marks the company’s second major product presentation in a single month. The official tagline for the presentation is “Pro and tell,” a moniker directly embraced by leadership. Executive Greg Joswiak stoked anticipation for the presentation by sharing the event invite artwork on social media on October 19, writing to followers, “Can’t wait to pro and tell next week.“

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the “Pro and tell” presentation is expected to center on Apple announcing its first MacBook Pro models equipped with both a touchscreen and an OLED display. These OLED touchscreen machines will reportedly be available in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes. Beyond the upgraded screen technology, the new laptops are expected to feature a Dynamic Island for the first time. Adding touch input to the Mac line reverses the company’s long-standing design philosophy of keeping laptop and tablet interaction models separate.

Regarding physical design, the upcoming OLED MacBook Pro models will weigh significantly less than the current generation. Underneath the exterior, these touchscreen laptops are expected to run on the brand’s M5 Pro and M5 Max chips.

Reports indicate the October 28 event docket includes a suite of supplementary reveals, beginning with a revamped iPad mini. The updated tablet features an OLED screen, an updated speaker system and a relocated FaceTime camera. Apple is also rumored to debut a new iMac alongside entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro models, both expected to be powered by the M6 chip. In contrast to the overhauled touchscreen models, the rumored M6-powered iMac and entry-level laptops will reportedly retain the physical design of current versions.
