Built for the unforgiving conditions of the open sea, ThruDark and Musto have joined forces on “Nautikos,” a technical apparel collection that brings together two distinct areas of British performance expertise. Marking ThruDark’s entry into offshore racing apparel, the collaboration combines the military experience of its founders, former UK Special Forces operators Anthony “Staz” Stazicker and Louis Tinsley, with Musto’s six-decade heritage in professional sailing equipment.
Founded by Olympic sailor Keith Musto in 1964, the latter has long specialized in protective clothing engineered for demanding maritime environments. The resulting collection, described by Musto as its most durable offshore range to date, prioritizes weather resistance, adaptability and safety over decorative detailing. Its predominantly black and charcoal palette reinforces a utilitarian aesthetic, while the accompanying campaign places the garments aboard high-speed boats and against rugged coastal landscapes, emphasizing their intended use in challenging conditions.
Leading the drop are the Nautikos GTX Jacket and matching GTX Trousers, constructed with GORE-TEX PRO for sustained protection against severe offshore weather. The collaboration also introduces Dyneema reinforcement to Musto’s technical outerwear for the first time, combining the high-strength fiber with waterproof construction to improve durability in demanding environments. The jacket features a high protective collar, an adjustable hood and an array of oversized utility pockets, while the bib-style trousers incorporate adjustable shoulder straps and multiple storage compartments. A removable pocket system allows storage configurations to be transferred between compatible layers, extending the range’s modular functionality. Additional safety features include D3O knee protection and photoluminescent reflectors designed to improve visibility in low-light conditions. For more adaptable layering, the Nautikos Trident GTX Jacket and matching trousers offer streamlined silhouettes suited to changing weather conditions, retaining the collection’s emphasis on technical performance.
Completing the system are the Nautikos Stormfleece, an insulating mid-layer designed to retain warmth beneath the outer shell, and the Nautikos T-Shirt, made using S.Café fabric technology that incorporates recycled coffee grounds into its fibers. The latter provides quick-drying performance and UPF 50+ sun protection without chemical treatment.
The Nautikos Cap rounds out the collection with Musto’s waterproof MPX construction, fleece-lined detailing and ThruDark’s reflective camouflage graphics across the peak and rear panel. Together, the pieces establish a coordinated layering system intended for extended periods at sea, reflecting the collaboration’s emphasis on protective performance and practical versatility.
