Beans, the company behind a diverse array of select shops and brand stores, is opening GEED, a specialty store dedicated entirely to GORE-TEX® products and WINDSTOPPER® products by GORE-TEX LABS®, in Sapporo, Hokkaido, on Saturday, October 10.

The name “GEED” combines “℃” (degrees)—symbolizing the comfortable body temperature maintained by the waterproof, breathable, and windproof properties of GORE-TEX® products—with the letter “G,” representing both “GORE-TEX” and a deep respect for the protective performance of its garments and gear.

Sapporo was chosen as the location for its seamless blend of city and nature. The store aims to share the value of GORE-TEX® products against the backdrop of a metropolis of nearly two million people where diverse cultures and trends intersect, while also serving an area where outdoor activities like skiing, snowboarding, trekking, camping, and cycling are deeply rooted.

The store curates a selection of highly functional and beautifully designed items from both outdoor and fashion brands. Inside, the space features granite fixtures and earthen walls, blending rugged textures with natural materials.

Additionally, the store features an Experience Room where visitors can explore the history and technology of GORE-TEX® products. A rain booth simulates actual rainfall, allowing customers to experience the products’ waterproof and breathable performance firsthand, while an on-site laundry facility demonstrates proper wash and care methods for the garments.

A timeline chronicling the 50-year history of GORE-TEX® products also spans the walls. The experiential space is designed to bridge the gap between the technology’s origins, modern urban life, and the great outdoors.
