Procell Teases Mephisto Collaboration

Dressed in a rich green shade and featuring a custom tongue tag.

Mephisto footwear has long been a low-key favorite among tastemakers in the downtown New York City scene for its use of high-quality materials, unassuming silhouettes and lack of overbearing branding. Now, the brand is directly set to work with one of those tastemakers as a collaboration with the vintage mavens at Procell was recently teased.

Shown via a single Instagram post, the collaboration appears to be on Mephisto’s Match silhouette, though this has yet to be confirmed. What is for sure, however, is that it uses rich green suedes and leathers on its upper and, most notably, features a custom Procell tongue tag. The collaboration likely hits close to home for the Procell team, as co-founder Brian Procell is a noted fan of the brand who can often be spotted in various Mephisto models.

This is far from the first Procell footwear project either: in 2019, the shop worked with Nike on a muslin-covered Air Force 1 Low, and, in 2021, Procell co-founder Jessica Gonsalves — who was part of the Angelo Baque-led “The ASICS Collective” collaborative initiative — put a pearlescent spin on the GEL-Nimbus 9, a classic ASICS running shoe. On the Mephisto front, the brand is seemingly upping its collaborative output as well, with 18 East set to release two collaborative takes on the Rainbow sneaker in the coming months.

Stay tuned for further info on the Procell x Mephisto collaboration as it’s made available.
