Mowalola Ogunlesi’s namesake label’s long-awaited Air Jordan collaboration is officially launching this month, and in preparation, Mowalola tapped famed photographer and filmmaker Norbert Schoerner to shoot the visuals for the ‘Something’s Off’ campaign.
The Nigerian-born designer’s résumé of collaborations already spans Marc Jacobs bags, Ksubi cheetah print jackets, Skateroom decks, and Beats by Dre headphones. However, Mowalola strived for a long-term partnership — arriving at Jordan Brand x Mowalola, the designer’s eponymous label’s partnership with Nike’s iconic basketball line.
Mowalola x Air Jordan was first teased back in early June, when Ogunlesi unveiled her take on the Air Jordan 14 silhouette, reimagined in burgundy suede, alongside a brand-new metallic backless version, the Air Jordan 14 Mule, finished in aged leather uppers. True to Mowalola’s intentional world-building and her unapologetic vision, the ‘Something’s Off’ campaign pushes boundaries and presents a singular perspective on the Jordan Brand iconography.
The collaboration now unfolds as a full collection featuring oversized leather jackets, translucent tartan tracksuits, fitted vests, and Jordan-branded signature Mowalola microshorts worn by model Alek Wek, musicians Chxrry and Tezzus, and rapper Pz’ in eerie, uncanny scenes around an abandoned hotel.
The Mowalola x Jordan Brand collection drops on Mowalola’s website on Saturday, September 19, with a global release following on Saturday, September 26.
