RADIO EVA and AVIREX have turned the classic MA-1 into the EVANGELION MA-1 REMODEL by AVIREX, a three-colorway flight jacket released as part of RADIO EVA’s “THE 30” collaboration series. Rather than print graphics onto a stock jacket, the project rebuilds AVIREX’s own remodeled silhouette around three machines from the Evangelion universe.

The foundation is AVIREX’s MA-1 REMODEL MARK II, a further-evolved take on the MA-1 that AVIREX first developed as a custom flight jacket. From that base, the collaboration splits into three unit-coded builds: the black version draws on Unit-01, the red on Unit-02 and the navy on Mark.06, with each jacket’s palette and trim keyed to its respective machine.

Construction is where the theme is carried, not just the color. Each colorway pairs a lining and reflector tape matched to its unit, then works in rescue-style detailing that nods to the series’ world. Stencil prints applied across the jacket lean into the rugged, utilitarian language of military outerwear. The most prominent feature sits at the hood: a cowhide leather patch gives the collar area a heavy, tactile presence, and because the hood detaches fully, the jacket keeps that presence whether the hood is on or off. The materials back up the military framing, with a nylon shell, polyester lining and fill, an acrylic-and-polyester hood lining, cowhide leather trim and acrylic ribbing.

The EVANGELION MA-1 REMODEL by AVIREX is available in three colorways through the RADIO EVA Online Store on September 26.
