by Arthur Parkhouse · HypebeastAt Tokyo Auto Salon 2025, Toyota showcased three standout iterations of the GR Yaris, each representing a unique vision for performance and innovation — namely the GR Yaris (NÜR 24h), M Concept and Aero Package Prototype.
The GR Yaris NÜR 24h makrs Toyota’s return to the Nürburgring 24 Hours endurance race after a six-year hiatus. Equipped with the newly developed GAZOO Racing Direct Automatic Transmission, this race-ready model will compete under the newly united TOYOTA GAZOO ROOKIE Racing (TGRR) team. The GR Yaris underwent rigorous testing on roads in Japan and the famed Nürburgring circuit throughout 2024, underscoring Toyota’s commitment to honing both cars and drivers for extreme racing conditions.
Pushing the GR Yaris platform even further, Toyota unveiled the GR Yaris M Concept. Featuring a midship-mounted, turbocharged 2L inline 4-cylinder engine, this model embodies Toyota’s “driver-first” philosophy. Designed for the Super Taikyu Series, the GR Yaris M Concept embraces the grueling process of testing, repairing and refining under racing conditions. Its development incorporates feedback from both professional drivers and the passionate guidance of Morizo.
The GR Yaris Aero Package Prototype was also an enthusiast favorite with its modernized aerodynamic upgrades. Developed alongside professional drivers, it includes a variable rear wing and six performance-enhancing parts, all designed to optimize handling and stability. The bold styling is complemented by a vertical handbrake option.
