If you’re looking for a last-minute Christmas gift, a good pair of noise-canceling headphones goes a long way. And when it comes to noise canceling, Bose is still one of the best brands. The QuietComfort Ultra headphones were long our favorite ANC headphones (until the second-generation version dethroned them).

Right now, the first-generation Bose QuietComfort Ultra headphones are on sale for as low as $279, the lowest price they’ve ever been. The original version still delivers the same great noise-canceling performance and sound quality, but sacrifices a few creature comforts, like the auto-sleep feature and longer battery life. The one catch is that the best deal applies to the deep plum and sandstone colorway. Other colors, like black and white smoke, are discounted to $299.

The non-ultra version of the QuietComfort headphones are discounted, too, dropping the price to $199. Best of all, these option should arrive before Christmas, as of this writing.

The QuietComfort headphones are available in a range of colors and can be used wired or wireless.

While the QuietComfort Ultra headphones have a higher-end design and better performance overall, the lower-priced QuietComfort has its advantages. It can be used passively, so you can plug them in without turning them on, and its lightweight build may be more comfortable for long-term use. Plus, the tactile controls may be more intuitive for some.

The QC Ultra, on the other hand, offers better noise-canceling performance, a higher-end build, and features like wear detection, which automatically pauses and plays music when you take them off. On both models, you can adjust the EQ in the Bose app to fine-tune it to your preferences and set customized ANC modes.
