Volvos are usually sensible, so why is this new electric SUV so fast?

What is it? The EX30 Cross Country is a slightly higher riding, slightly tougher looking version of Volvo’s appealing little electric SUV. As such, it’s among the smallest prestige SUVs on the market. This is now the only EX30 available with all-wheel drive, presumably in keeping with its more off-road image. Volvo is still headquartered in Sweden but Australian-delivered examples of this car are made in China (and to a very high standard).
What does it cost? It is now $62,990, $7000 below the launch price. In this new, lower pricing structure, the single motor, regular EX30 is $49,990 and the EX30 Ultra Single Motor is $54,990. In all cases, you must add on-road costs.
