Why Bentley’s first EV is marching to the beat of its own drum – literally

This is the Torcal: the first ever electric Bentley. It’s a five-metre-long SUV, built on the same EV-specific platform as various VW Group stablemates including the Porsche Cayenne and Audi Q6 e-tron.
The name is taken from El Torcal de Antequera, a series of spectacular rock formations in Andalusia, Spain, though Bentley points out it shares its word root with “torque”. On that score, the Torcal has more than any other Bentley: 1350Nm in its most potent S form. There’s an abundance of power too (647kW), giving a 0-100 time of less than three seconds.
