I have a decades-old Submariner that, over the years, has fluctuated in value from well under five figures to $15,000. So what is it really worth?

In the past, a watch indeed had several “worths”. There was what it cost to produce, how much to purchase, and what it might bring if you resold it. Add to this the variables that come with location, timing, margins and profit-taking, and you could have a smorgasbord of estimates.
