Google Assistant to end on 4 September 2026

If you’ve finally gotten used to Google Assistant or just haven’t gotten around to installing Gemini, be prepared for some more changes as Google Assistant is expected to end on 4 September 2026. It will affect mobile users mostly, but also some smartwatches, headphones and Android auto. 

How does this affect you?

If you didn’t know already, Google Assistant is largely being replaced by Gemini and for the most part, this process is automatic. However, for certain older devices, you may need to set up Gemini yourself. Usually, this is just approving the notification but sometimes you will have to go into the settings and set it up there.
