You may be able to create videos from Google Photos with Video Remix soon, just not in Malaysia yet

Google recently announced the Video Remix feature for Google Photos, in select countries like the US and Indonesia. Utilizing the Gemini Omni model, it allows you to make videos from your existing photos. Accessible via the Create tab, it is available to eligible Google AI Plus, Pro and Ultra plan subscribers in those select countries.

What can it do exactly?

According to Google you can change the background, apply relighting effects and do stylization? From the videos it seems like this means it can make your photos into animated sketches and so forth, but you may have to give it a short text prompt to tell it how exactly. Hopefully it will arrive in Malaysia soon too.

Here’s the list of countries that it’s available in:

  • US
  • Argentina
  • Bangladesh
  • Brazil
  • Colombia
  • Egypt
  • India
  • Indonesia
  • Japan
  • Mexico
  • Pakistan
  • Philippines
  • South Korea
  • Turkey

What do you think? Doesn’t this sound like the image-to-video features that some phones already have? We’re also pretty sure that using the Video Remix feature in Google Photos will likely use up your AI credits or your usage quota, but we’re not sure how much exactly. If it does come to Malaysia would you use it? Share your thoughts in the comments below and stay tuned to TechNave.com.
