HUAWEI Mate 90 Pro Max and HUAWEI Mate 90 RS Ultimate Design China release - 12000nits display, modular 1-inch camera, Kirin 9050 Pro chipset and up to 2TB storage starting from ~RM5785
HUAWEI recently released its flagship HUAWEI Mate 90 Pro Max and HUAWEI Mate 90 RS Ultimate Design in China starting at CNY 9499 (~RM5785) and CNY 12999 (~RM7917) respectively. Tech specs include a 12000nit dual layer LTPO OLED display, a 6800mAh battery with 100W wired fast charging, and native support for the modular Ruiying Z10 camera accessory. Official shipments in China are scheduled to begin on 11 November 2026 but there’s no Malaysia release dates or pricing details yet.
The return of an External Camera accessory?
When exploring the imaging setup on either device, you will find a primary 50MP variable aperture camera alongside a 200MP periscope telephoto lens with 4x optical zoom and a 40MP ultrawide sensor. A third generation red maple color sensor is integrated into the module to refine color rendering across varying lighting conditions.
Both models are compatible with the optional Ruiying Z10 external camera module. Retailing separately for CNY 5999 (~RM3653), this modular attachment houses its own 50MP 1-inch RYYB sensor, offering a 24mm to 240mm focal range and 10x continuous optical zoom. This reminds us of the Sony QX1 and we all know how well that went.

Quite obviously, both HUAWEI Mate smartphones here are for those with a lot of money on hand. While these smartphones already have really powerful cameras, we have to say that the extra modular camera attachment is a bit much, but if you’re looking to spend your money on tech this might be something better than a gold plated phone instead.
